Black Caucus Foundation Orders Scholarship Audit

September 6th, 2010 | No Comments | Posted in "Coonery", Democratic Party, Leadership

We can’t expect the Congressional Black Caucus to act within ethical boundaries – but put some money in front of these self serving Black Democrats and its on. Family and friends first – then maybe the community. It’s another sad day for Black America.

By The Associated Press and Black News.com

WASHINGTON — An internal audit of the scholarship program of the Congressional Black Caucus Foundation was under way Tuesday, sparked by the admission by Rep. Eddie Bernice Johnson that she had steered scholarships to her relatives and the children of a staff member.

The foundation’s chairman, Rep. Donald Payne, D-N.J., said that neither the foundation nor the Congressional Black Caucus “will allow unethical behavior in the awarding of scholarships or any programs that are designed to benefit the community.”

The foundation is a tax-exempt organization that is run by its own staff, but with strong ties to the caucus of African-American lawmakers.
The Dallas Morning News first reported that 23 scholarships Johnson, D-Texas, handed out since 2005 violated eligibility rules.

Johnson said Monday that her actions were unintentional, but foundation attorney Amy Goldson pointed out that the students, the lawmaker awarding the foundation scholarships or the lawmaker’s designee must certify that the recipients are not related to the lawmaker.

Payne said that despite a system of checks and balances in philanthropic organizations, “there are weaknesses and there are people who find a way around the system.” He said the next scholarship programs will be delayed for four months to ensure that new measures are in place to prevent any self-dealing or nepotism. A candidate for Prince George’s County Executive has been accused of skipping out on her $26 check

"Gerron S. Levi, Maryland State Delegate"

Prince George (USA Radical Black/September 3, 2010)…The owner of the Ledo Pizza at Eddie’s Place in Crofton told the Gazette Wednesday that he has filed a police report naming Delegate Gerron S. Levi (D-Dist. 23A), of Bowie, as a chief suspect in the Aug. 27 incident. The restaurant owner asked the Gazette not to publish his name. Anne Arundel County police were unable to provide a copy of the police report but said an investigation into the case is ongoing. When workers realized the check hadn’t been paid, they noticed a “Vote Levi” magnetic sign on the door of the departing car and identified Levy by looking at the candidate’s website, the owner told the Gazette. Reached Wednesday, Levi said she ate at the restaurant last week, but said she didn’t believe she had left without paying. “Really? That is so crazy,” she said. “I’m almost certain I paid. … If I didn’t, it would have been a mistake. I always pay my bills. I don’t believe I would walk out a restaurant and not pay the bill. ” Levi said she would call the restaurant. “They couldn’t call me if they thought that was the case?” she said.

“It doesn’t matter who you are. You don’t do this,” the owner said. “Even if it was an honest mistake, she’s had four days to come back and pay, and she hasn’t.”  Levi campaign consultant Julius Henson denied the restaurateur’s allegations. “This is a politically motivated smear campaign,” Henson said. SURE!!

Levi is one of five candidates seeking the executive nomination in the Sept. 14 Democratic primary election.

Obama defends self against Black critics…Why?

By DARLENE SUPERVILLE (AP) – 17 hours ago – Posted at Your Black World

ALeqM5iyNy8krzTULYuc5ObunN5hGMMMkwWASHINGTON — President Barack Obama on Monday rebutted critics who say he isn’t showing enough compassion toward black America, citing his health care effort as one example he says “will be hugely important” for blacks.

Obama said another example is the billions of dollars in aid to states included in the economic stimulus bill, money that was used to save thousands of teachers, firefighters and police officers from losing their jobs. He said many of those workers are black. Read More »

Fried Chicken will not help the GOP – “Change” will

By Donald W.R. Allen, II – Minister of Information/USA Radical Black

ngbbs4a8ada122325aHow many times do you have to be “politically” knocked in the head before you learn that the usual suspects have done nothing for you? It isn’t about Democrats or Republicans anymore; it’s about forming coalitions of like-minded people. It’s okay if you voted for Obama for president. Now, put that vote to use and change your situations locally. “Look around, you’ve had the same complaints in 2004, 2006, and 2008.

Voting for the same folks (usually Democrats), has not gotten us anywhere. But the Republican Party has not let us in the tent of all-inclusion.

Look at the facts: 2 million Black families faced hunger in 2008. I.C.E. raids on undocumented persons continue largely unchallenged. Unemployment amongst all races is at an all time high.

The friends you have are two weeks from poverty and some can’t find work.  Being fiscally responsible means that wealth is spread far and wide, not just to banking fat-cats and others that need to be bailed out. If you want a better future, you should finish reading this story. In the long run, the final choice is yours.

If you’ve never experienced condescension, go to your local congressperson or state representative with a complaint. There you will discover the real meaning of the term.

How do we get the two major parties to be responsive and accountable to the people? Furthermore, how do we get the Republican Party to stop being the party of “no” and do something useful for black people?

First of all: A message to the Republican Party…Stop attacking Obama! Read More »

‘Post-Racial’ America? Not Yet. NAACP Legal Defense Fund Releases Report on Why the Fight for Voting Rights Continues After the Election of President Barack Obama

(SOURCE: NAACP Legal Defense and Educational Fund)The NAACP Legal Defense Fund’s (LDF) Political Participation Group, released “Post-Racial” America? Not Yet, a report detailing why the fight for voting rights continues one year after the historic election of President Barack Obama.

O“Amid the excitement of President Obama’s election, ‘post-racial’ has become a powerful buzzword in our social and political lexicon, and some have asserted that America has completely overcome the racially discriminatory practices that have endured long past the work of the Civil Rights Movement,” said John Payton, LDF President and Director-Counsel.

“President Barack Obama’s election as the first African American President marks continued progress toward our highest ideals of freedom and equality, and affords all Americans great hope about the promises of our Constitution,” said Ryan P. Haygood, Co-Director of LDF’s Political Participation Group. “Yet some mistake this critical milestone as the end of our nation’s ongoing journey toward racial equality.”

With voting as its focus, this report confronts the myth that President Obama’s election ushered America into a “post-racial” era by examining two recent developments in the area of race and politics. Read More »

The DFL Political Plantation is not good for Blacks

Plantation Slaves in chains

By Donald W.R. Allen, II – MOI

Minneapolis, MN (Source IBNN.org) – The purpose of the Minneapolis Urban League Glover-Sudduth Center for Economic Development is to do just that. Grow economic development among the Black Minnesotan population. Not to be the DFL political plantation in a cold Jim Crow. The irony is that the top voter turn-outs in Minnesota are cast in the highest populated Black districts. What a way to thank the Black voters!

How can the Minneapolis Urban League reach out to the African American population when the main focus has been to pimp the African American vote for the DFL? African Americans hold the right to vote sacred and the historical importance has been manipulated by those who promise and deliver not much more than a cup of Free Trade Coffee at EJAM’s Founders Day among hippies “slumming it” on the Northside for the day, with their Obama buttons. Community members are only treehuggerinvited when there is a photo opportunity, and when the image of mobilization is needed for organizations such as Institute for Agricultural and Trade Policy, which although does work on the policy side does little to help the day to day with the trickle down hopes promised. Only deliver a hot mess of benign neglect. Pimped for grants, and yet nothing ever gets done but then again there is always next year. Another example that poverty pimps have a vested interest keeping the Northside oppressed and earn, a nice notation on their resumes. Read More »

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi: How to jail more people of color – Jail time for Those Who Refuse to Buy Obamacare

By Donald W.R. Allen,II – MOI/ Video is courtesy of KOMO-TV (ABC) Seattle, Washington

KOMO-TV: Do you think it’s fair to send people to jail who don’t buy health insurance? Pelosi…”the legislation is very fair in this respect.”

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (The Puppet master) is out of touch with the American public. With unemployment in the United States at an all-time-high, how could this government official even part her lips to say or even imply “jail time for those who refuse to by healthcare, or as we call it, Obamacare.

This is the Obama administrations attempt to further crush the middle-class. While Blacks and other people of color look for opportunities here in the United States to gain education, wealth and independence – more heinous threats of legal actions come from our Black Presidents administration. If they really wanted to keep it real, Pelosi would say, “Jail time for anyone that doesn’t agree with the Obama health care plan.

Change?  Keep the “change” if the cost is our freedom! Read More »
