Fried Chicken will not help the GOP – “Change” will
By Donald W.R. Allen, II – Minister of Information/USA Radical Black
How many times do you have to be “politically” knocked in the head before you learn that the usual suspects have done nothing for you? It isn’t about Democrats or Republicans anymore; it’s about forming coalitions of like-minded people. It’s okay if you voted for Obama for president. Now, put that vote to use and change your situations locally. “Look around, you’ve had the same complaints in 2004, 2006, and 2008.
Voting for the same folks (usually Democrats), has not gotten us anywhere. But the Republican Party has not let us in the tent of all-inclusion.
Look at the facts: 2 million Black families faced hunger in 2008. I.C.E. raids on undocumented persons continue largely unchallenged. Unemployment amongst all races is at an all time high.
The friends you have are two weeks from poverty and some can’t find work. Being fiscally responsible means that wealth is spread far and wide, not just to banking fat-cats and others that need to be bailed out. If you want a better future, you should finish reading this story. In the long run, the final choice is yours.
If you’ve never experienced condescension, go to your local congressperson or state representative with a complaint. There you will discover the real meaning of the term.
How do we get the two major parties to be responsive and accountable to the people? Furthermore, how do we get the Republican Party to stop being the party of “no” and do something useful for black people?
First of all: A message to the Republican Party…Stop attacking Obama!
I am a Conservative. Not a Colin Powell Republican, but one who voted for the party’s ticket – as General Powell should have.
But I have to address my party’s character defects, which include leaving me and other like-minded Black Republicans out of the loop.
Irrespective of who is pulling the strings in the White House, every administration has “wizards” behind the scenes. Bush had his people – Reagan had his folks. The point I’m trying to make while I attempt to address in the shameful attack on Obama by the Right, we (the GOP) don’t have the luxury or time to be on the attack day-by-day. The Republicans elected to positions across the country are counting the days to November 2010, (their possible demise) when they could be replaced. Meantime, the antiquated, White and sometimes racist GOP is focusing all its attention on attacking Obama and preaching to the choir. One thing the GOP should have learned, President Obama has the means to change outcomes in any Congressional District in the United States with a single visit. Who do we have to make the rounds for us– Sarah Palin?!
Being a problem solver, I have attempted to address the complete lack of interest in addressing the minority-ethnic community with my local GOP. I designed a marketing campaign called, “Red, White and You – We are the New GOP! ©.” Unfortunately, all I’ve received in response are emails claiming that the MN GOP has already spent tons of money and time on outreach. Let’s be real for a minute.
If you knew an African-American Republican who worked for news and information, marketing, advertising and public relations agency that could deliver a campaign about anything to 8 million active internet users daily in the United States – wouldn’t you want to consult with him and his firm? For god’s sake, he’s already on your side!
Their failure to take my offer serious is related to a systemic problem with the Republican Party: if a Black man has an idea – “It can’t work.” Double talk + mixed messages= an all inclusive tent of morons stuck in purgatory.
Enter Michael Steele, whose best idea for attracting people of color the GOP involves fried chicken, as discussed by James Edwards on The Rise of Ethnopolitics. This plan might have worked during the Great Depression– but not in 2010, and definitely not in 2012.
The Constitution of the United States says, “We the People….” But again, being candid, when the Constitution was written, Black people were literally property, less than human. I’ve heard all the arguments about the Republican Party being created because the Democrats believed in slavery and the Republicans were these fine socially-conscious people who wanted to right the wrongs that Blacks had been put through. Today, though this just sounds like a scam, as the party has offered no solutions nor even opened the door for real inclusion of anyone who is a true advocate for the political and economic rights of people of color.
So why is it that in 2009, the Democrats have failed to take us to the promised land, yet the GOP has absolutely nothing to offer to anyone other than “Tea Party” protests?
Could it be that the antiquated actions of the Republican Party Rhinos have killed the heart of true Conservatism?

You truly give proof to the fact that the pen is mightier than the sword. If this does not wake us black gopers up, then Rip Van Winkle has nothing on us. I’ll take my coffee black, thank you.
I’m fired up and have had the last piece of fried chicken I intend to have from either party. Its as bad for the arteries as your message is good for the heart and mind.
Thank God for the Minister of Information. It’s a 10
on my scale, brother.

Wow, what a commentary and so on point. So what’s next? I’m hearing similar conversations from other Black Conservatives around the country. It’s almost as if there needs to be a movement of sorts that capture the essence of what you’re saying and allow that to grow and manifest itself. Similar to what Jackie Salit of The Committee for a Unified Independent Party is doing. Independents all over the country are growing, but we’re not bound to a particular party. Although we realize that running for public office as an Independent is extremely difficult (I know, because I ran in 2006 in Georgia), however our mindset is ‘free’ to vote for the person based on what they bring to the table; what qualifications they have; etc. VERSUS just because that candidate has a D or R next to their name.
Hey, you keep on keeping on. Once again, nice read.

Finally, Black conservatives and moderates taking action to design a plan to improve our community for us, by us. As a moderate Democrat, I say don’t leave us out of the hoop because the grant, grant give me, give me mentality of the liberals in government has created an unhealthy climate. Surprisingly, the next generation of Black Dem leaders (Booker, Patrick, Davis of Al and maybe Obama) might be more comfortable with this throwback to self-reliance than the fossils in the CBC.
Let the GOP is designing a Purity Test rather than listening to the average Black southern voter who is not liberal.

The problem is that you are a Black conservative who no doubt ignores the racist attitude that the GOP has toward Black people..

This is a good post, which features worthwhile information. If you invest your time in reading this, article it really worth it. This article starts in a perfect way. The author has full grip on the topic through out the article. I like the way in which writer has ended his article. It is not a regular useless post in which even writer is not sure that what exactly he wants to say.
